High School Program

High school programs are typically taught in an eight session segment (one day per week, for eight consecutive weeks).

Week 1: Goals

  • Balloon Activity: using risk avoidance skills to overcome potential obstacles to success
  • Personality Profiles: how knowing your strengths & weaknesses can protect your goals
  • 20 Questions to Discover Your Passion & Purpose
  • Etch a Sketch: what do we need to ‘shake up’ about our goals and decisions?

Week 2: Influences

  • Name that Jingle: how the media gets in our heads
  • REAL Essentials Power Point: What does the media say about love, sex, marriage?
  • Drugs, Alcohol & Pornography – Fact or Fiction
  • Love Tank: making sure we know where to find support for difficult choices
  • Etch a Sketch: what do we need to ‘shake up’ about the way we deal with unhealthy influences?

Week 3: Navigating Differences

  • Physical Differences
  • REAL Essentials Power Point: Celebrating Differences between Males & Females
  • Circle Game: discussing stereotypes & challenging myths about the opposite sex
  • Difficult vs. Different conversation
  • Etch a Sketch: what do we need to ‘shake up’ about our views of those who may be different than us?

Week 4: Love vs. Infatuation

Week 5: Whole Body Health

Week 6: Healthy Relationships

  • Friendship, Dating & Love: what is dating? Why date? Can we delay dating?
  • Creating 6 Different Group Dates: to explore healthy, fun group date options
  • The Dating Bill of Rights: guidelines and responsibilities

Week 7: Violence Prevention

  • Teen Dating Violence: State Mandate and Power & Control Wheel

Week 8: Hopes & Dreams

Middle School Program
